Grant Awarded to Expand Chatralaya
and Add Computer Lab
AIM for Seva is pleased to announce that the board of directors of Guru Krupa Foundation has approved a gift of $100,000 to be used to construct a second floor addition and expand the first floor of the chatralaya for boys in Cumbum, Tamil Nadu. The second floor will house …
- An additional dormitory
- A counseling room
- A library/study room
- An activity room
- Five washrooms
- A small porch for drying of clothes and work space
This expansion will allow AIM for Seva to provide a nurturing home and value-based education to 40 additional boys from rural communities – double the number of children currently being served. The grant will also fund the construction of an on-site computer lab.
Our chatralaya provide an environment that allows our children to focus on their studies without interruptions, and eliminate the economic challenges they would have to face were they living with family back home. Most of the children are first-generation learners and highly motivated to complete their education, pursue a fulfilling career, and support their families. They are instilled with cultural values and a strong work ethic, creating a generation of responsible young adults who will lift their families out of poverty and set in place a cycle of positive socio-economic empowerment.
