Global Youth Leadership Program Youth Ambassadors

Mission

Our heart-led mission is to get the younger generation actively involved in AIM for Seva’s awareness-building and fundraising efforts in order to keep Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati’s goals sustainable for the long term. We ensure AIM for Seva’s contact with the younger generation and help to shape the global leaders of the future.

Accomplishments

Since the start of our work on the GYLP Youth Alumni team in April 2020, we have planned and conducted events in order to raise money and awareness for AIM for Seva:

Meeting with GYLP Alumni
(May 2020)

We reconnected with former GYLP students (2017-2019) and encouraged their continued involvement in AIM for Seva.

Good Karma 5K Run/Walk
(June 2020)

We played a large role in promoting the event to the youth alumni. Alumni were offered service hours for registering 20 others for the event, which bolstered participation from alumni and their family and friends. The event raised an estimated $40,000 overall, and our team contributed an estimated $1,000.

AIM for Seva Concert
(August 2020)

We organized a virtual concert on Zoom and Facebook Live to raise awareness for AIM for Seva and to provide a platform for people to showcase their musical talent. Twenty acts participated, and the event raised $1,688.

Scholarship Fundraising
(October-November 2020)

We raised money for 55 scholarships to cover funding for four years of college.

Virtual GYLP
(January 2021)

We arranged a virtual GYLP “trip” on Zoom to interact with Manjakkudi students from 5th to 10th grade who GYLP alumni missed dearly. We started out with bhajans and then played games and reconnected with the students through reflections.

Eva Saramya

Hey, my name is Eva, and I’m a sophomore at Wake Forest University. My intended major is Health and Exercise Science with a double minor in Entrepreneurial Studies and Bioethics on the pre-medical track.

I went on the GYLP trip in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. My experience was not only memorable but truly life-changing. I learned so much, improved my leadership style/skills, and co-led and taught the most amazing children in Manjakuddi. I was a part of the 2022-2023 GYLP trip as well, serving as a youth chaperone. All of the skills I acquired in Manjakuddi inspired me to create this team along with my five other friends. Our initiative started in 2020, and we plan on continuing and expanding our impact with our team-oriented approach.

Some of my interests include going to the gym, photography, and cooking/baking.

Diya Varma

Hi, my name is Diya! I am a rising junior in Nova Southeastern University’s B.S./D.O. program studying Neuroscience and Public Health.

I went on the 2019-2020 GYLP trip, and my experience definitely changed me for the better. The bonds that I created with the students in Manjakkudi are truly unforgettable, and as much as I taught them about English, math and science, they taught me just as much about how to be more respectful and patient through their actions.

A few of my interests include music, photography and painting.

Rushil Suresh

Hi, I’m Rushil, and I’m studying Clinical Psychology at the University of California, San Diego looking to become a psychiatrist.

I went on the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 GYLP trips, and had an absolutely stunning experience with the lovely kids there. The experience is surreal in the serene village of Manjakkudi, and being a part of the Youth Ambassadors is my way of continuing that ideal.

Some of my interests include photography and aviation.

Sneha Anand

Hello, my name is Sneha, and I’m a sophomore at Rutgers University majoring in Cell Biology & Neuroscience and minoring in Music.

I went on the 2019-2020 GYLP trip and had an amazing teaching and learning experience. GYLP taught me more about how to be a leader, and I am grateful to AIM for Seva for giving me a platform in which to learn and leave a positive impact on these wonderful children.

Following my amazing experience in Manjakkudi, I went on to volunteer as an ambassador to continue AIM For Seva’s growth and impact. I strive to work with my peers to increase change through bigger fundraising projects for years to come!

Ashika Mukund

Hello! My name is Ashika, and I am a sophomore at UT Dallas majoring in Mathematics.

I attended the GYLP trip as a high school sophomore in 2018, and this is my third year working with the GYLP youth ambassadors. It has been an honor to work with this team, and I am looking forward to executing all of the projects that we have planned for the duration of 2023.

Tejas Karthik

Hey, I’m Tejas. I am a sophomore at McMaster University, and I live in Toronto, Canada.

I went on the 2019-2020 GYLP trip and had a transformative experience interacting with the students, staff and volunteers. I was able to check myself of the privilege that I have and realize the impact that I could create in society.

I am an avid artist who’s interested in biology, medicine, business, and the provision of accessibility to those who need it.
